Weekly activities for the duration of 23 September to 29 September 2022

Facilitation and monitoring of bi-Month Meetings:
Through this meeting, it will enhance the capacity, and knowledge of UPLAC members and also increase awareness about their roles and responsibilities. They will review their last two-month activities and set the activity and strategy for the next two months. They will also discuss the field-level situation, problems, and overcoming process.

Facilitation and monitoring of bi-Month Meeting of UZLAC:
Md. Mizanur Rahaman, UNO & Member Sectary of Upazila Legal Aid Committee, Kathalia, Mobile no-01705-411026, Said that the government’s free legal aid program is a great initiative to ensure justice for poor and underprivileged people. Most of the people of Kathalia Upazila are deprived of this service because the distance from Jhalokathi district to Kathalia Upazila is long and the fare is very high. So, it is difficult and costly for a poor person to attend DALO office for Legal Aid Service. I recommend the concerned parties to take necessary action in this matter.

Campaign involving a student on civic education of rights and responsibilities:
Mst. Rina Akhter. Headmaster, Saturia Meherunnessa Memorial High School, Saturia Union, Rajapur, Jhalokathi, Mobile no-01776-961018 Said that- As a citizen of the state, every person needs to know about legal matters. It is essential to know this subject for students of classes 9 and 10 at the school level. Because at this age the boys and girls of our country are more dangerous. Especially girls are subjected to various situations including child marriage, torture, etc. If you know the information, you can protect yourself in any situation. And also, can help others to disseminate information.

Video Projection on Legal Aid:

Mobile no-01718-832288, Said that-The Government of Bangladesh provides different services for disadvantaged poor people but we don’t know all about all services. Today’s event is a great opportunity to learn about free legal aid services through video projection. I hope all people of my union are informed about legal aid services, accept legal services, and establish their legal rights.
